Love at first Byte (Tampa)
Address: Byte Burgers, 10935 N 56th St, Tampa, FL 33617.
Sometimes, there really is love at first bite. Located in the same plaza as Lunar Coffee, a beloved minimalist, Asian-inspired matcha house—and just five minutes from the University of South Florida (my alma mater, Go Bulls!), Byte arrives as a fast-casual, halal smash burger concept with a keen eye for detail.
Brothers Ahmed and Ali Mansour have launched a venture that hones in on a "less is more" philosophy. This concept leans into a sleek, minimalist feel from food packaging, indoor signage, and their social media page that captures a modern, lively energy by leaning into raw flash photography, offering hyper-real clarity that immediately compelled me to visit the spot with my sister. Out of the three signature burgers, we tried the Truffle and House burger. Both rich in umami, and made with fresh, house-made sauce.
The Truffle Burger, in particular, hits the spot. It carries a generous amount of truffle without being overbearingly rich. The House smashburger was equally good, with a melt-in-your-mouth bun that reminded me why I never turn down a proper burger moment. The fries and chicken nuggets had the right amount of crispiness and savoriness, too, making this the ultimate meal pre or post game. Byte has earned themselves a new fan.
